Schweizer Berghilfe

Schweizer Berghilfe, the Swiss mountain aid organization, has been supporting the people of the Swiss mountains since 1943. It supports projects that create jobs and added value in the mountain region. This helps counteract migration away from the area and keep the mountain regions alive in the future. We are happy to support Berghilfe with our contribution.

At our traditional Christmas party at the Lüssihof, we auction off all the Christmas gifts we receive from custodian banks, fund companies, partners, and clients. Our employees place generous bids on wine, Basler Läckerli, Panettone, Prosecco, wool blankets, umbrellas, calendars, bee honey, and much more. The two managing partners, Maurice Pedergnana and Timo Dainese, then double this amount again. In 2021, we raised a total of CHF 11’000, which was divided equally between Schweizer Berghilfe and Winterhilfe Zug.

Our donation helped support a Berghilfe project in the mountain village of Spiringen in Uri. Following the closure of the only village shop, the village had been left without local shopping facilities. But the mountain dwellers took action and founded a cooperative that took over the shop. Since the shop had to be renovated and needed modern furnishings, high initial costs were incurred. The Berghilfe project “The cooperative takes over the village shop in a mountain village in Uri” has contributed significantly to the village shop being able to reopen after a month-long renovation phase, thus creating a sustainable shopping facility for the residents of Spiringen.
