ESG and sustainability

ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) refers to the key factors for measuring sustainability. Zugerberg Finanz follows the 17 criteria set by the UN.

E (Environment) Compliance with key environmental concerns
S (Social) Compliance with social standards and social freedom
G (Governance) Compliance with good corporate governance

What criteria must a sustainable investment meet? There is no uniform definition of this. This is partly due to the fact that the criteria used may differ from product to product and from provider to provider. What is important is that there is transparency regarding the sustainability concept and the criteria used for investments.

Sustainability in accordance with ESG principles

The three approaches we use for all Zugerberg Finanz portfolios:

1. Negative screening – strict ESG exclusion criteria
We do not acquire options involving tobacco, the arms industry, environmental damage, human rights violations, etc.

2. Positive screening – “Best in Class” according to ESG
Industry pioneers in ESG issues. We are guided by what is actually achievable, not by those who act only when the “standards” become law.

3. Sustainable investment – Activist ESG approach
We are actively committed to meaningful applications of ESG issues. This requires examining different approaches and a lot of know-how.

ESG in the portfolio – the right balance
