Zug Sports Night

“It is the moment when an athlete’s courage, determination, and unbridled will culminate in a triumphant success – a success defined by peak performance that not only inspires us, but also touches us deeply on an emotional level.”

The secret of the Zug Sports Prize has been revealed every year since 2013: under the spotlights of the Theatre Casino Zug, the Sports Prize is awarded to victorious and deserving athletes from Zug as part of the Zug Sports Night.

The winner receives a handcrafted sculpture, as well as a support grant. The sculpture is designed by the artist and goldsmith from Zug, Urs Bischof – a valued neighbor of ours here at the Lüssihof. The cantonal sports commission makes a selection from the submitted applications, which are collected and sorted in advance by the Office for Sport and Health Promotion by the beginning of November. The commission then submits their proposal to the responsible Governing Council. The final decision is made by the latter, taking into account the public vote. As a rule, all qualifying athletes have already won a Swiss Championship title, a medal at European or World Championships, or a medal in the European or World Cup. The winner will ulti-mately be democratically selected by a qualified panel of judges.

In addition to the Zug Sports Prize, the Prix Panathlon, an award that recognizes voluntary work in sport, will also be presented at the Sports Night.

Around 150 guests attend this ceremonious, moving event every year – an evening packed with emotion, recognition, and moving moments.

Our commitment to movement and sport is very important to us, so it is an honor for us to be a part of this annual highlight of the sporting calendar in the canton of Zug. Our commitment to the Zug Sport Night is long-term.
